PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was launched for residential rooftop solar. Applications and the official workflow are handled through the national portal, with the local DISCOM participating in feasibility, inspection and commissioning steps.

Typical application journey

  1. Register on the official PM Surya Ghar portal and select your state and electricity distribution company.
  2. Submit the rooftop solar application and wait for feasibility approval where required.
  3. Select a registered vendor and agree on system scope, equipment and commercial terms.
  4. Complete installation, submit plant details and request inspection/net-metering.
  5. After commissioning and verification, submit the subsidy/CFA claim through the prescribed process.

Plan capacity before selecting a vendor

Review at least 12 months of electricity bills, available shadow-free roof area and daytime energy consumption. Roof condition, sanctioned load, local DISCOM rules and export arrangements can affect the final design.
